AGE REQUIRMENTS: The age requirements are determined by the coach of the specific practice location.  The practices and tournaments typically divide those 1st year wrestlers (Rookies) and 2nd + year wrestlers (Open) to assure the optimal learning opportunity.  There is limited opportunity for high school age wrestlers to compete locally at the club level.  However, they are welcome to join, train and attend any tournaments that have their age division available.  There is more opportunity to compete for High School wrestlers during Freestyle and Greco
TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE AND FEE: Tournaments are held throughout Texas.  The schedule will be posted in November.  Generally, there are several tournaments within the Cedar Park, Austin and San Antonio area.  Traveling to other tournaments would include going to Houston, Dallas, Amarillo, and El Paso.  The larger National Tournaments are for the advanced wrestlers and would include possible travel outside of Texas.  The tournament registration is taken 1 - 2 weeks prior to the tournament date and requires an additional fee in the range of $12 - $35 per entry and payable to the club directly.  This entry fee is non-refundable.  The coach will determine the readiness of the wrestler to compete in the tournaments and this is based on a number of factors including their attendance of practices.  At the youth level boys and girls will compete in the same age/weight division.
ADDITIONAL FEES AND EQUIPMENT:  All wrestlers must have wrestling shoes before stepping on the mat.  Our club has a surplus of shoes that have been donated to the team.  These shoes are available on a first come/first serve basis.  They have been sanitized after each season.  Some wrestlers look forward to buying their own shoes and head gear.  You may visit Dick's Sporting Goods in Pflugerville for a good selection of wrestling shoes.  Kids with braces are required to wear a full mouth piece (upper/lower).
PRACTICE ATTIRE: All wrestlers must arrive at practice with the proper attire; t-shirt or sweatshirt (no hoodie or pockets), gym shorts or sweat pants (no buttons or zippers), and wrestling shoes.  Optional gear would include; knee pads, headgear and mouth pieces.  Wrestling shoes are NOT to be worn outside.
PARENT PARTICIPATION: We encourage all parents to stay for the practices.  This will help you learn the sport if you are new and be immediately available if an injury happens while at practice.  There will be times throughout the season that you will be asked to volunteer your time in assisting with tournaments.  Many times these are used as fund raisers for the club.  We have always ran this club as a  true non-for-profit with the main focus on offering participation to everyone, regardless of their financial status.  Membership and Tournament Scholarships are given every year to those seeking assistance.  We only ask that you, in turn, volunteer your time.
