COACH RANDY MCLEMORE wanted to get his oldest son involved in wrestling
in 1999. He found Scott Norton, then head coach of CCW and started taking Levi to practices. By the following
year he was helping coach. It was a small group of wrestlers that he enjoyed working with. As they grew older
and moved into high school he moved too taking his family out towards Lago Vista. He decided to start a branch out there
and began with 7 wrestlers, two of them his own boys. He continued to stay in contact with those that continued into
high school, having them out to the house and giving them jobs to help support their future outside of the wrestling room.
Throughout the years he has hauled many wrestlers throughout the state of Texas and to national tournaments in Iowa and Oklahoma.
Always making sure that if a kid wanted to wrestle they had a ride, a bed and warm meal. He has worked very hard
to try and touch the lives of these young wrestlers and instill discipline, self-confidence and loyalty. In the end,
it is the kids that have made a lasting impression on him.
COACH
JOHN HAGEL who was instrumental in introducing wrestling to the Austin ISD has continued to work with CCW and other area clubs
to help keep the sport growing in this area. His direct approach to coaching and his wealth of knowledge of this sport
is respected by many youth wrestlers and coaches. He has helped take many "to the next level" of wrestling.
LEVI MCLEMORE was introduced to CCW in 2001 by his father and
now head coach, Randy McLemore. His tenacity for the sport and competitive spirit throughout the past 7 years has provided
him with the opportunity to fill his room with a lot of hardware! But, as he has matured in the sport, he is more satisfied
with the feeling of having his hand raissed at the end of the match. He will move forward competing in high school in
the fall of 2008 as a freshman and looks forward to taking all the support and knowledge his coaches have given him.
LUCKY TORRES was one of our original 7 when CCW began practicing in Lago VIsta.
He has become one of the family and looked up to by many of the younger wrestlers. Coach Randy has enjoyed watching
him mature as a young man and as a wrestler. In his last season he showed a passion for wrestling and decided to make
a commitment to continue the sport in high school.
JOSHUA
JEWETT was one of the original 7 when CCW moved to Lago Vista. He competed with the team and always showed a lot of
heart every time he stepped on the mat. He was always there to encourage his teammates and made many friends throughout
the years wrestling at various tournaments throughout Texas. In 2008 he assisted the practices and tournaments as an
assistant coach. He had a way of helping the younger wrestlers face their fears of competition and to step off the mat
wanting to wrestle more. His time and dedication to CCW will always be appreciated.
RYAN NORTON, the oldest son of CCW Founder, Scott Norton, wrestled for CCW as a Bulldog and continued
on to be a Bulldog for Bowie High School Wrestling. He has earned a lot of hardware over the years and battled through
some injuries during his high school career. We hope to see him back on the mat to help coach the youth.
